Gareth Bale can be the savior of Real Madrid
Gareth Bale can be the savior of Real Madrid
A few months ago, Real Madrid fans even demanded that Gareth Bale be kicked out of the club. However, they are hoping the Welsh star can shine in the match against PSG.
Many Real Madrid fans were surprised to see Bale kick in the match against Villarreal on the evening of February 12 (Hanoi time). At the end of November 2021, the former Tottenham star was also booed by "Los Blancos" fans, raised his middle finger and threw insults at the player when leaving the Valdebebas training ground. The Welsh media were even shocked by the scene.
However, coach Carlo Ancelotti has reason to believe in the 32-year-old star. In the context of Karim Benzema's injury, Real Madrid's attack showed poor performance. In the last 3 matches, the Bernabeu team scored a goal after 44 shots. Bale therefore started and pushed Rodrygo, Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard to the bench.

Comeback
Before the trip to Villarreal, Bale had not played a game for Real Madrid since August 2021. Coach Ancelotti several times entered Bale's name on the registration list after the player recovered from his injury, but the Italian strategist did not use him.
Real Madrid did not have an easy match against Villarreal. The first 19 minutes on the El Madrigal field last, Bale could not touch the ball. Real Madrid's midfield faced many difficulties against the home team.
After a difficult time in the first half, "Los Blancos" regained the game in the second half, and Bale became a prominent player in attack. The player born in 1989 left his mark with classy handling situations.
Bale moves smart, touches the ball with feel and has at least 3 clear scoring opportunities. If Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli hadn't played brilliantly, Bale would have scored. Bale's return to Real Madrid after 168 days impressed many people.
Real Madrid fans almost no longer care about the former Tottenham star, after the player defied injury to play for the national team and showed signs of disrespecting the club that paid him. However, Bale's class is still there.
The Welsh winger's shot hit the Villarreal crossbar says it all. Real Madrid experts and fans initially expected Marco Asensio to play in the position of "virtual 9" in the 4-3-3 formation when facing Villarreal.
However, it is Bale who is trusted by coach Ancelotti for that role. The former Tottenham star became the center of Real Madrid's counterattacks. Coach Ancelotti's use of the Wales star shows his plan before the match against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
