Israel Adesanya won points against Robert Whittaker in the middleweight title match taking place in Houston, USA at noon on February 13 (Hanoi time).
The highlight of the UFC 271 event is the fight between former champion Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya. After 5 rounds, Adesanya won the point when the judges scored 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46 respectively.
The 32-year-old boxer successfully defended the UFC middleweight belt. He is having 11 wins in this weight class and is only 2 more wins than the legendary Anderson Silva's record.

Whittaker was almost unable to deploy a close attack against Adesanya during 5 rounds. He could only use foot strikes to knock his opponent down in the second half. Meanwhile, Adesanya took advantage of his height to launch long-range kicks, preventing the opponent from rushing in.
Adesanya's low kicks with both feet worked, then he hit the right hook to earn more points. He defended effectively against the close effort. In round 5, Whittaker managed to drag his opponent to the floor, launching another hook. Even so, Adesanya still controlled the situation until the last second.
Adesanya again won against Whittaker after the first in 2019. "I knew he would do it all because last time I took everything from him," Adesanya said after the match.
Meanwhile, Whittaker said he started slowly but felt like he dominated the ensuing rounds. He thinks that the judges give unfair points. However, he said he felt happy despite losing.
